Organizing Materials

Interested in helping promote the Confluence? This is where you can find the whole range of materials to organize and mobilize folks (family members, co-workers, organizations, friends) for the Confluence.

The items are listed in the rough order that you might need them (*note: all youth track materials are kept together and can be found at the bottom)

* First step: Invitation Letter: This is a general and in-depth invitation letter that describes the Confluence and invites people and organizations to participate. Good for sending to organizations and friends.

* Are you outreaching to a specific organization? Try this: Organization Questionnaire: This includes a number of important questions for organizations and helps us make sure that the Confluence is relevant to their work and that the Confluence will be accessible for them to attend

* Does someone want to know what the politics of this event will be? Will it be like other environmental gatherings?
Points of Unity: This defines the shared political perspectives of the core Confluence organizers, and can be good outreach material to get non-environmental grassroots groups excited. **We are asking that anyone presenting a workshop read and consent to the Points of Unity**

* Do you or someone you know want to present a workshop at the Confluence?
Questionnaire for workshop proposals (Download as a Word Document; Download as a PDF file): This is the form to be used by anyone wanting to propose a workshop, and is about getting a better idea of what the workshop is about. This form is meant to be downloaded, filled out and emailed to education@climateconfluence.org. Anyone proposing a workshop should also read the Points of Unity (see above) and know about the four educational streams.

* To help feed yourself and others while at the Confluence: Food Donation Letter
Use this for soliciting food donations for the Confluence! Can be printed and brought to your local grocery store, farmers market, food co-op, etc. Be sure to contact food@climateconfluence.org about all food donations.

*Want to help gather supplies - anything from tents to paint? General Donation Letter (Download as a Word Document; Download as a PDF file) As a Word document, this letter can be used for most types of donations, but tailored to specific needs. As a PDF, the letter can’t be tailored to specific possible donors, but you can always highlight the types of needs for particular donors (ex. if you’re writing to a camping gear store, after printing, highlight the “Outdoor Gear”  category). Here’s how to use this as a Word document:

-The “needs” page (2nd page) starts with: “We could use your help gathering…”, followed by one of the categories of needs & examples. In this  version, camping gear is the need because of high demand.

-Below that is a list of other categories, each with their specific examples of supplies.

-On the “letter” page (1st page), the 2nd to last paragraph has a sentence that starts with “For example…” which can be tailored to specific types of stores or companies. Again, this one is tailored to camping gear.

-For non-camping supply donations- on the “needs” page, cut “camping gear: tents…” & paste below among the other categories (be sure to change font to 10) - cut whichever category you’re wanting & paste it where “camping gear” started (don’t forget to capitalize/uncapitalize as necessary).

-You can also personalize the greeting to a specific store, and add your own contact info in place of the general Confluence contact info.
